We cannot lie, last week was one of the most challenging, emotional, scary, life-affirming, beastly, heartwarming weeks in the short history of Art on the Street. In spectacular fashion (and completely unexpectedly) the people of
Maidenhead came out in an incredible way to support us after the theft of our heras panels.
It all began when the Maidenhead Advertiser
found out about our loss and were so cross that they gave us the FRONT PAGE! From there, we were inundated with offers of assistance, good wishes and kindness. Marie (pictured) was stopped in the street, telephoned, emailed, hugged and approached with offers of cash and donations of paintings to auctions. Maidenhead showed itself to be a really lovely place.
The long and short is that thanks to an emergency grant of £1000 from the Louis Baylis Charitable Trust we can replace the panels and Art on the Street will continue its mission to show Maidenhead its art. We love them more than we can
ever adequately explain. Pass the tissues please...
