Sum up your work in a sentence:
Award Winning Recycled Glass and Resin Seascapes and Abstract Art
When and how did you become an artist?
I am a self taught artist, though I have always been interested in crafts and having dabbled in watercolours for a short while. I remember being put into the lower art classes during my school days as I was considered not good enough.
I started in acrylic on canvas art following redundancy and family losses taking a tremendous toll on my emotional and mental health in the early 2000s, having seen a television programme using acrylic paint on canvas it simply caught my attention.
My acrylic became the one thing that got me out of bed in the morning and functioning within my family on a daily basis.
My art is an emotional release, it got me out of a bad place a number of years ago and continues to be my place to go for personal salvation.
Who or what are your inspirations and why?
I produce my art from my emotions, imagination and/ or moods or simply from following a particular process to see what ensues.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I'm looking forward to the day we can retire to Cornwall, though currently my son and his family live close by, my daughter lives in Cornwall with her partner so we could see them more, also the weather is milder the pace of life is so relaxed and we would be closer to the sea, which enthralls me... I could just sit and look at the sea for hours... Finding a way of representing the sea in a style that suits my style has made me feel as though I have crossed a line.
