In September 2011 she won ‘Best Entry’ prize at the Melbourne Festival with ‘High Peaks’ a large painting in encaustic and resin which is Dana’s favourite medium for the past three years. She successfully works in oils and acrylics but molten wax mixed with pure pigment (Encaustic) is her passion because the luscious and versatile method in applying this medium is like no other!
Her work is mainly abstract and her compositions are fed by her emotions in front of scenery, an object, by music, and memories of her past. She has taken commissions for more representational work like people and pets portraits but her style is always different and unique she always says:’ If I want represent exactly what I see I take a photo, I like to paint what I feel... “Spontaneity is my most important tool”
