Jan Dingle is an established Printmaker specialising in images of a watery nature. She uses 2 copper plates to develop the coloured landscape etchings she produces.
Etching is a very painstaking technique which in picture form dates back to Rembrandt's time. From the first sight of a bubble on a bath of nitric acid I knew it was the technique for me. I love to experiment with different ways of biting the plate and the proofing of a plate can achieve some amazing results not anticipated whilst creating the plate. It’s the not quite knowing.
Since being widowed she has down-sized to a small cruiser on the Norfolk Broads which is just large enough for her and her 4 Norwich Terriers. Most of the inspiration for her work comes while cruising the Norfolk Broads, but she does use other areas as well.
