Somewhere between abstract and figurative, imagination and reality.
When and how did you become an artist?
Following a degree in Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art I received a Fulbright Scholarship and Teaching Fellowship at the University of Hartford, USA. Returning to the UK I embarked on a career in scenic art and design working in theatres, films and museums at home and abroad. I also occasionally taught part-time.
Now I am painting for myself and teaching adults part-time in the Oxford area.
Who or what are your inspirations and why?
My favourite artists are Gerhardt Richter and Grayson Perry both working with different media and forms with a political slant. They buck the trend of reproducing their successful work ad infinitum and seem to prefer a more adventurous, experimental journey.
If you could go for a drink with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Grayson Perry - intelligent, politically concerned and funny.
