Bright, colourful and eye catching landscapes and abstracts
When and how did you become an artist?
I started painting in 2005 and have been enjoying and developing my skills since then.
I started painting as a hobby but since giving up work to raise a family it has now become my main focus (aside from running around after a busy 4 year old that is of course!!).
I specialise in colourful sunsets, landscapes, seascapes and abstracts. I love working with acrylics and large canvases with the great freedom of expression they allow, and the endless possibilities in depth of colour and texture. The immediacy of seeing my work some to life quickly is another satisfaction.
As well as producing original art work, I also build on concepts from previous works to produce new aspects or additional detail.
Who or what are your inspirations and why?
My driving force is to try to capture the colours from nature and to evoke a similar emotion in the viewer to the emotion I felt when witnessing the beauty of the scene for the first time; The feeling of absolute peace as a glowing sun sinks below the horizon, the feeling of awe when seeing mountain ranges disappearing into the distance, the sense of wonder when colours in the sky dance from brilliant reds, pinks and oranges to yellows, greens and blues at the moment before dusk. I aim to bring colour to people's lives and provide inspiration to others.
If you could go for a drink with anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Sir David Attenborough. I have loved nature and the planet's natural history for as long as I can remember and part of that love has been developed through watching Sir David's wildlife programmes. I think he is an absolute inspiration and the stories he has to tell would make for a fascinating evening!
